To provide high-quality guideline-based care for patients with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) we must first establish the correct diagnosis. The National Asthma and COPD Audit Programme (NACAP) has highlighted an important issue across England, Scotland, Wales that potentially undermines many people airways disease.
